As Manager of Sales, Business Strategies & Planning at Muscat Pty Ltd in 2001 I specialised in the service, sales and distribution of earthmoving equipment and machinery. In a nutshell this means I interacted with a client, determining their equipment needs and then designed and built whatever machinery they needed not currently available. This included creating a catalogue of full spare parts supply fit and a maintenance workshop. I also supervised and managed the manufacture of a large range of aluminium tippers and produced a wide range of steel trailers.
My job at Muscat found me wearing many hats. From Project control and assessment through final analysis, it was on me to fully staff and then train key personnel. I monitored and coordinated the various sales teams on an hourly, daily, weekly and monthly basis, reviewing and making adjustments and changes as they were needed. I identified problems or needs and developed solutions where needed, from the initial planning to the resulting execution of tasks and manufacture of earthmoving machinery needed to satisfy the customer needs,

Throughout the different tasks performed at Muscat I continued to analyse the progress made, how the Muscat business benefitted and developed contingency plans for minimising company losses during implementation of solutions for contracts in hand. This meant coordinating and storing data for current and later analysis.

In the two years of holding my position of Manager for Muscat, the company achieved all sales targets, manufacture productivity increased by 56%, three new earthmoving equipment suppliers were brought on board, three additional sales staff were procured and Muscat Pty Ltd was awarded global recognition for sales and service. I’m proud to have played a major role in Muscat’s growth and the subsequent acquisition of adjoining premises which provided a one-block radius of manufacture plant, sales offices, corporate buildings and showroom. To have helped arrange getting all these diverse facets of one company within walking distance of each other was truly a crowning achievement.
